About the team

The centre offers both walk-in and pre-bookable appointments, which can be arranged by calling NHS 111 or visiting NHS online. Anyone with a life-threatening emergency should call 999 immediately.

Our experienced clinical team provides care and advice for a wide range of urgent but non-life-threatening conditions. This includes problems such as abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation, vomiting and diarrhoea; minor wounds needing treatment, dressings or closure; allergies, hay fever, bites and stings; breathing difficulties; coughs, colds, viruses and flu-like symptoms; and emergency contraception. We also support with minor genital or urinary concerns, muscle and joint injuries like strains, sprains and simple fractures, as well as nose, throat, ear and eye symptoms.

The team can assess and treat a variety of skin conditions such as rashes, burns, scalds and bites, and can provide advice on local NHS, social care and voluntary services. Where appropriate, clinicians are able to prescribe medication in line with local prescribing guidance, and can assess for conditions such as suspected DVT (blood clot in the leg), depending on specific criteria.

The centre cannot provide routine GP services such as chronic disease management e.g. diabetes, blood pressure monitoring etc or routine referrals to consultant. We welcome children with minor ailments. However, patients under the age of 16 with bone injuries should attend children’s A&E at Ormskirk hospital in the same building.
